First, the plastic molding is far better on this fuel filter than generics. There are clear "windows" so you can see the filter. There is no extraneous plastic flashing that must be removed. The inlet and outlet are much sturdier than the generics, and the flow direction arrow is clearly marked, where the generics are difficult to see if they even have one.When disassembling old filters and comparing, the filter itself is much higher quality. I have seen generics that have disintegrated internally, and the paper pieces ended up in the carb. The Kohler has better material, many more pleats (which means more surface area), and it's claimed to filter down to 50 uM. Why risk a clogged carb for 2 or 3 bucks? Just buy the Kohler!
