This is an exact OEM replacement muffler kit for the Kohler Courage SV470 through SV620 Engines. I purchased this kit for my Simplicity ZT18441KHC zero turn equipped with the Kohler Courage SV540 engine. It is well documented that these mufflers typically fail at the exhaust tube to muffler casing weld. That said, my unit was built in 2004-2005, and the muffler failed sometime in 2024, therefore unless it had been replaced before my ownership, the original lasted 20 years with 800 hours on the clock!Fit, form, and function are of OEM quality (along with any inherent design flaws). It is easy enough to remove and reinstall, just be careful not to break the upper mounting bolts as they are in the aluminum engine block. Value for the money is there. Minus some crazy custom build, there are few muffler options for this engine series.Note: if your muffler is broken at the weld, the hot exhaust is blowing back on your engine and valve cover. This will cause premature failure of the gaskets and cause excessive oil leaks. Therefore, if you want your engine to be quiet and not fail due to excessive heat, then this muffler is an exact OEM fit.

The only issue I have is the main weld on the pipe at the muffler brakes too easily. This is the 2nd one I bought and it broke at the same place.
