I own lots of Kong products for rope work. Every single Kong item I own is well made, of the best materials, and works exactly as I need it to. When I see Kong stamped on something I know its good stuff.

I used this snap shackle and the a similar one from Wichard to make a tethers for sailing. The finish and operation of the Wichard snap shackle is impeccable, especially when compared with a Kong snap shackle. However, the split ring on the Wichard is not welded, but the one on the Kong is welded. (See photo.) I expect that the welded split ring on the Kong is more reliable, but I don't expect the split ring to experience enough force to make it fail. The Wichard is more expensive than the Kong, but for this application, since it's life-safety equipment, I don't mind paying for better quality.

Really good quality, my only complaint is that I couldn’t figure out how big is the product, and is too big for what I was intending to use it. Other than that no complaints.
