Horrendous. I am brand new to fly fishing and even I know this was a horribly made reel. At first glance and when I played with it after opening the box, it seemed great. The drag was crisp and the finish was nice. But after I put my fly line on and fiddled with the conversion, it went to crap. The drag didn't work, and when I turned the reel, it acted as though something was stuck. I quadruple checked the gears and made sure I properly placed after playing with the conversion. Nothing worked. It was like it was nicely lubricated, then dried up as soon as it became exposed to the air outside the box it lived in. I DO NOT recommend this reel for anyone. As my fiancee said, I got what I paid for.

A few months ago i purchased a 8wt rod reel combo from a flyfishing company on amazon. I was pleased with the product and still am, the reel had me starstruck and would have ordered more from them until.... i FOUND THE SAME EXACT REEL FOR A FRACTION OF THE COST( and it wasnt that expensive). I placed the order hesitantly and when i received i was glad i did.The reel features a zero resistance retrieve and a twist drags system where you can adjust how resistance you put on the fish You can swith from righty to lefty by flipping a ring on the inside. It is made of AlumAlloy so you could destroy it by hand if you wanted to. As a avid fly fisherman, I would recommend this to rookies, noobs, and prospects alike. It almost compares to the higher end stuff.

I ordered this reel for one reason,,, I just had to check out these no name very inexpensive fly reels popping up all over.I was looking for a few reels to pair up with some great 9' 5wt rods my late father left to me ,,, TFO's , MYSTIC REAPER , REDINGTON PURSUIT (now renamed "PATH") Well I just received the 5/6 KUFA's ... FOR THE PRICE..WOW!LARGE ARBORLEFT / RIGHT HAND REVERSABLE.DECENT DRAG.CAST ALUMINUM FRAME AND SPOOLALUMINUM FOOT .the rim of spool good though not as silky smooth as it could be like some more expensive castl or cnc reels,, butdont let this scare you away ..keep the price in mind and its only noticeable but thats it , nothing somone looking for a decent reel on a budget is going to give a second thought.I was able to switch handing in about 30 seconds and instructions with pictures are included for removing the one way bearing retainerclip / wire and flipping over the one way bearing..very simple and felt solid.The lubrication of the reel ..at least my three was lacking but easy to take care of and I follow the less is more rulethe gresse used durring assembly appeared to be so so at best so I was happy to tinker and do it my way .Tnis reel sounds nice as the as line is pulled out against drag , has no tension , clicker etc as line is reeled in .Balance is very good with a 20" brown screaming across the river and was consistant .Balance is right on the money , not to heavy and nothing looks or feels cheap or junky.overall I am happy , and at this price for a large arbor reel ,,,, very happy . If you can live without a BIG NAME stamped on your next reel check it out.BOTTOM LINE -The Kufa 5/6 is a great reel at a great price ...Good drag.large arbor picks up line fast and there is less line coil memory for better casting .aluminum reel foot ( no surprise plastic foot here )Leaves some cash in you pocket - no buyers remorse.Bang for the buck and what you get for your money ..easy five stars .I can buy a pile of them for what I payed for one spool for my big name reels.
