I would not buy one of these again. Something is wrong with the grind or a diff grind part was in the box passing as stock. I locktite the bolts after some had said that they come apart - no issue there but the motor had 1/2 the vacuum and would never idle or run right. I was convinced that it was some vacuum leak. I took it to a classic aircooled VW rebuilder in Indianapolis and they did every test, told me there was no vacuum leak and that the Cam is bad. I bought an Engle W90 and some new lifters and after putting it back together, it started on the first try and idled! BEWARE of this cam. It might work for you but mine was not right. It seems to have too much lift or something.

I machine and build VW engines and had a customer bring in an engine for assembly. He has already put it together, but was concerned about bearings before he ran it. I corrected the bearing issue and assembled the engine. It ran great for about $500 miles when it locked up. When I took it apart it was obvious that the cam gear bolts had come loose damaging the back of the oil pump and when one of the bolts sheared, it jammed between the cam and crank gears seizing the engine.Shortly before the above return came in. I had purchased the same cam and installed it in an engine. (I needed a cam quickly and Amazon delivered it quickly. The cam looked good upon install, but when I had to tear down the motor after maybe 3 hours of runtime. (unexpected oil leak), I noticed that all of the bolts holding the cam gear to the cam had loosened. I replaced the cam with something else, and then found out that both cams with loose gears were this same brand. You can see that the bolts were tightened enough to dig into the cam as they were designed to do, but there is no sign of thread locker on any of the bolts from either cam.Second picture is back of oil pump damaged by the first cam to come loose. The cam and gear seemed to be okay from outward appearances, but the bolts and lack of thread locker are an issue. If you purchase this cam, make sure to remove the bolts, install thread locker and retorque to avoid expensive problems down the road. The bolts also seemed a bit soft to me, but I have not tested them.I will probably not be using this brand in the future.
