This spring compressor worked great on my Mercedes 300D. I was amazed at how easily and smoothly it tightened. It made the job easy.

This product worked fine for the first few uses. After that, it started getting harder and harder to turn. I disassembled it to see what was wrong, and the threads are badly damaged and failing. It is no longer safe to use. I guess it's fine if you only want to use it once, but if you're looking for a tool that will last this isn't it.Update: after contacting seller about the issue they refused to refund or replace the purchase. Shady business practices.

I found this coil spring compressor kit to be very well made and nicely priced for what it comes with. Unfortunately, I was unable to use it to compress the front springs on the 1984 Mercedes Benz W107 chassis I was working on (replacing lower control arm assemblies) because the main part of the tool wouldn't fit through the hole in the control arms. Upon re-reading the description, I realized that it's not designed to compress the front springs of this particular vehicle.. rears only, with shocks removed.Be sure that your application is compatible with this kit!

These are MUCH safer than the "quad hook" style cheap compressors you see everywhere. The plates have a lip the spring registers to, and the centers have indentations the telecoping center screw falls into. To remove the screw, you loosen it, push up and rotate a little and it comes out. The plates on the other hand, are a bit hard to get out depending on how compressed your spring is when installed. You can "thread" them up the spring to move them, but if your spring goes into a deep pocket, you'll need to have the plates end up outside the pocket when uncompressed.

This is the ticket for an 80 Fiat 124 spider front springs. I fought with 2 other compressors for a couple of weeks and was stuck, this set had it back together in minutes.

Worked perfect for my w124, front and rear. If you have never used this before there are a plethora of diy videos using this tool that will assist you and I highly recommend doing so beforehand. DO NOT use impact tools and you'll have nothing to worry about. Item arrived in a couple days and no complaints!
