The existing front and rear axle hardware on my FXDF wasn't the best looking part of the bike. If you want the murdered(black) or chromed out look, the existing hardware can take away from that look. I tried to paint and plasti-dip mine. Iy looked exactly like someone tried, but didn't do well. These look great if you aren't looking for anything fancy and won't kill the wallet. They are metal with a black satin finish. They are not gloss black or have the powder coated look. Honestly, they look good against either color though.
