We replaced a door latch that had this type of strike plate. However, the one that came with the new handle didn’t extend out & cover the hole from the old strike plate. Ordered this & problem solved!

The latch on the door scratched it a little but it works

I changed colors (from gold to oil rubbed bronze) and spray painting the strike plates did not work. These with rounded edges were difficult for me to find until I found them on Amazon. The black works just great..fits nicely into the area where I removed the gold ones, so a quick install. Very nice replacement item for those homes that are older and don't have the square edge on the strike plates.
