Purchased for a Mercedes W123 300D, these are great shocks but not quite the same ride quality as OEM Bilstein, however available here in Canada for a reasonable price (about a third of the cost of Bilsteins).

Replaced the original front shocks on my 79 Mercedes 300sd with 290k on it and they made a huge improvement in ride quality. Great price as well. Just ordered two for the rear. Hopefully they last. Will update as necessary

I installed these about a month ago and have thoroughly enjoyed the difference it made in my car's ride and handling. They were very easy to install, and I made $1.30 removing the back seat to access the top nut for the rear struts. (No sarcasm - I really had to do this and it was not that bad. One thing I learned is that, once tightened, you must re-tighten the top nuts with the car on level ground. Installation only took about an hour or so and, for the price, well worth it! Not sure how long these will last, but I plan on replacing them every 3-5 years because it's worth it. No squeaky noise and these actually seemed to be better designed than the ones that were removed. The coils on my car did not need to be removed, so it was a snap. The ride is firm, but still luxurious. Skill level is probably one notch over novice. No special tools needed, either. Just a basic wrench and socket set.

Ordered these for my 190E 2.3. These are the wrong shock design and do not fit. The picture is different from the actual product, and the picture is also the incorrect design for my car. They were also two different colors -- something which I do not feel is acceptable. Like wearing two different colored socks.

I can't remember if this part number was for the front or rear of my 1985 Mercedes 300D, so I will talk about both here. The fronts were great, nice shock, good rebound characteristics and helped greatly in the handling of the car. The rear shocks were another story, they couldn't dampen the cars weight very well, so the back of the car was still a bit bouncy. I recommend getting the heavy duty ones for the back if you have this style car and want a stiffer than stock ride.
