The Gas-a-Just is available as an OE monotube replacement and as an OE twin-tube performance upgrade. The KYB Gas-a-Just has two separate working chambers: An air-free hydraulic piston and valve area for responsiveness & control, and a second high-pressure nitrogen gas area with a floating piston that provides a comfortable ride during normal driving and adds instant performance on demand.

Was debating between these and a set of Bilstein 4600s to replace original factory shocks a 99 F150. Had the 4600s previously on another truck, and they were great, but didn't want to spend as much money on this truck. After riding on these, they are not as firm as the 4600s, but they still soak up bumps really well during normal driving conditions. Will update after attempting to tow, but so far, it has changed the ride tremendously. Not too stiff, but not too soft. Good shock for a great price so far.

I’ve decided I do like these and from the first turn of the wheel. There comfortable more so then factory and my 99 f150 she rides smooth as ever. Super easy install and with Ford I’ve not found saying that to come easy.

The ride is much improved. Seems as well built as the old Motorcraft model these replaced. The install was longer than I expected but rusted parts didn't help.

These shocks last forever! Have some on a truck with over 190k miles and they are still going strong.

KYB are great shocks for the money. They come compressed with a strap. However, once you cut the strap it extends out and if very difficult to compress while installing. ( my install was rear on a 2002 Ford F150) Here's the tip, compress the shock and have someone wrap duct tap tight where the two housing come together. Install the top first( no need to tighten nut yet, align the bottom to go in the slot, remove the tape bit by bit and the shock will slowly expand into the slot. You can use a screwdriver to adjust the bottom to put the bolt in. Tighten bolt and nuts at the top peel of excessive duct tape, done and on the road.

great shock for the money, I have only had it few a little bit now but have to say not to stiff but not to soft. As I do a lot of yard work I wanted a shock that could handle it but not be overly firm.

I like them but have nothing to compare them to. I installed these on my 1997 Ford F150 XLT 5.4l (replaced all 4)The pickup is 4x4 and torsion bar front springs. I had just bought this pickup and one of the front shocks was totally broke the other I'm sure was worn. So I have nothing to compare to. Of course the handling improved over the previous condition with the broken shock.I notice though when driving at highway speeds and coming over a hump in the road the front end will dive down, then bounce up but does not continue to bounce. So if feels like they are doing the intended job. When driving over really rough bumpy roads the pickup rides nicer than my car but that is expected as the car is strut base with minimal suspension travel.Time will be the big test for these. I will try to report back with updates randomly. I have put about 2000 miles on the shocks so far.
