Runes are an alphabet that was used in Northern Europe before the eventual adoption of the Latin alphabet. Each rune has both a name and a sound, as well as a given meaning. "ᚢ," for example, is the Ur rune meaning "ox," or "water." Because of their imbued meanings, runes are sometimes used to try to read the future. Runes had magical powers, they could predict the future, counteract harmful forces, provide various qualities, or they could be used in incantations, curses and magic spells.

Rune stones are supposed to be flat like basically two sided. These are more or less marbles with very faintly engraved rune symbols on them. The engraved symbols are painted with a cheap gold paint that flakes out at the slightest touch. The bag they came with was full of glittery gold dust that used to be paint from the engraved symbols. The stones themselves are horrible quality, full of pits, chips and blemishes. These are just awful! Yet another cheap piece of Chinese junk brought to you by your friends at Amazon. Don’t waste your time or your money on this garbage.

I was awaiting what you see in the picture & received this!

As others have indicated, the stones I received are NOT the flat, rectangular tiles shown in the ad. They are random odd shapes that do not lay flat to show the runes. (For the photo, I had to carefully balance many of the stones so the faces were visible.) Quite disappointed.

While they are stone runes, they are not as depicted. The images give the illusion of smooth cut presice rectangular shaped runes...what I got was not...instead they were random chunks of stone. Some were blank, I haven't thoroughly examined to see if they're extra stones, or stones missing their markings yet. They'll do, as I am in the beginning stage of using them, but I was very underwhelmed by these runes.

Pictures were very misleading. Runes varied in shapes and sizes. The runes are not flat and uniform like the picture suggests. They are not polished nor as good of quality as the display photos. However they are real labradorite stones. Average quality labradorite tumbled Runestones.
