Used this product to replace a Laing SM-303-BSW pump. The housing is a perfect match so I was able to avoid any changes to the existing copper work. The new pump and retaining ring threaded right on the current housing so the entire repair took less than 5 minutes. The variable speed was an extra bonus as I have been able to maintain hot water at all location while using the lowest setting on the new pump.

My old hot water recirculation pump went out some time ago. I finally got tired of waiting for hot water and searched for a new pump. My old Laing SMT-303-BS is no longer sold, but I found this product (Goulds E1-BCSVNNNW-01) and it was cheaper here on Amazon than anywhere else I could find. This pump is an upgrade from my old one in that it has an adjustable knob, an indicator LED, and an air purge feature.Note that Amazon's product photo is wrong as of the posting of this review - it shows a threaded pipe fitting, but it is a sweat (solder) fitting. The photo almost prevented me from purchasing this product, but the description is right and the model number indicates it's what I needed, so I pulled the trigger.I got lucky, too! I didn't have to sweat out the old pump housing & sweat in the new one. It just so happens that the old brass housing of the Laing pump appears to be identical to the new Goulds pump housing (accounting for some wear and impurities - see photo). Sure enough, the new pump motor and screw ring mounted readily to the old housing (I did swap out the old o-ring).The provided literature is in hieroglyphics, but you can find a better manual with a web search. I've added a few screen captures of manual portions I found informative. The air purge feature worked great and I set the knob between 2 & 3. And just like that, I have instant hot water throughout the house!

This is the third recirc pump I have ha to install at my home over the past 23 years The first one lasted about 17 of those years. The last one about 4. We will see about this one. Over all they work pretty well. I would recommend the timer attachment. That way its not running 24 7.

Bought this pump to replace older model that lasted 17 years. The older model had a timer on it, so I bought the suggested timer to be able to shut the pump off at night (9pm-6am). Installation couldn't be easier - both pump and timer had written instructions. Used the original plumping and screwed the new pump into the older pump's plumbing, which hadn't visibly aged. I carefully removing the original "O" ring from the original plumbing and installing the new "O" ring provided with the new pump. No need to call a plumber! Save $$$!

I purchased this to replace a 20-year old failed 303 series Laing pump. To my delight, the housing attached to the 1/2” return flow line was identical to the one for my old 303 series unit. So I simply unscrewed the old motor unit and screwed on the motor unit from this new unit - no cutting or sweating involved. Took five minutes! My 20-year old 303 unit did not have a timer or a flow adjuster. I set the flow adjuster at 2 — house is 4600 square feet with the farthest bathroom some 60’ from the 75 gal hot water tank. Hot water flow is now back to a 3-5-sec wait, vs. 3-5 minutes without the pump. Excellent Product and delighted customer! Hope this new unit also lasts 20 years!

This pump was a replacement for an older model. Installation was easy. I could use my old pump cover. The pump body screwed in easily. It started up and over time it has become imperceptibly quiet! I make sure that when we go out of town and shut our water supply to the house off the pump is switched off first. When we switch it back on it is so silent running that the only way I can tell it is running is by checking how quickly the hot water comes to our bathroom faucet farthest from the pump.

Upon installation, this product made a humming noise. After, 2 months, it started making a clanking sound and I had to unplug it. It is defective and its past the return date, even though it has a 1 year warranty. But in order to get the warranty, the company who sold it to me through Amazon must authorize an RMA order and I don't know how to contact the company. I am not happy with this situation!

As other reviewers have noted this is a nice do it yourself replacement for the older 303 series, and can be utilized with the existing brass pump housing if you don't want to sweat in the new one (if you do make sure you remove the motors and o ring first). The motor is adjustable variable speed vice constant speed and consumes 12W max compared to 33W for the old unit per the nameplate data. Amazon's specs for this item are out of date. I needed to crank mine up to "4" (a bit past the "ECO" range) to get the hot water recirculating loop warmed up in a reasonable time. I believe it is a little noisier at this setting than the old unit. My old pump lasted over a decade, so we'll see how long this one lasts. Nice product.
