The cross arm is made of metal. Comes in 3 pieces, which you simply screw together. The cross arm feels solid and I didn't have any fitment issues. A big bonus for me is that it matched the paint of my lamp (not post). The pictures will give you an idea of what it looks like. I'm pleased.

The rod is metal, unlike the plastic beam it’s replacing. I expect this to then be durable. It’s long enough for a draping flag decoration. Both ends are balls with bolts. Mine do screw on (with some internal material making noise) but the rod is not curved which would make for a more continuous look. From the road, this will not be perceptible. The diameter is about the size of the current lamp post hole, so I do need to ream out just a bit of the post to allow passage of the rod.

I ordered this item with the gold ends. It arrived the first time with black instead of gold. I did a replacement order and the second one came solid black as well. I chose to keep it because it is still good quality and solid metal, the end pieces screw in so it is secured. I already had a shorter version from another brand that had gold/brass colored end pieces that just pushed on so I'm using those with this rod for now, I'll just paint the ends that came with it if I want to use them in the future. 3 stars cause quality is good and it is a nice item, but the shipper has issues with sending the correct version.
