The entire shade and rings have to be put together. The fittings do not fit properly. It was very frustrating trying to get this all together. The shades come flat and must be assembled. I am returning this product.

Lamp shades are getting more and more expensive, but for what they are these are great! You do have to put them together yourself, but each took less than 5 minutes to assemble. The color is really nice and the fabric itself looks pricey, although you do end up with a chunky seam that you need to hide toward the back. The fit of the shade around the frame is the only thing that cost a star; it does take some adjusting to get the edges straight all around. But they work well as an inexpensive option to switch out some of my dingier old shades.
