If you’re thinking about getting it just buy it! This was a fun weekend project I took my time with and enjoyed. The video and instructions made assembly easy! It’s larger than i anticipated but very compact. It has a study built and sleek appearance as well. The 90 pods allow for a large variety of plants.I planted 2 types of lettuce, strawberries, kale, collards, lunch box peppers, cherry tomatoes, green onions, mini cucumbers (bush variety), zucchini, and yellow squash and left room for more. In the winter I will be doing broccoli and spinach as well. The goal is to completely eliminate the produce portion of my grocery costs. I will be updating after my first harvest.

Well it has been one week with our new hydroponic tower and we have lettuce, tomatoes, and herbs growing pretty much just like the product photo. It was easy to assemble and the instructions are easy to follow and start growing. It came with what seems like a couple months worth of nutrients and a step by step guide on how to mix them and when to feed them. Every one of our seeds sprouted within a few days and we will see. I am going to add some sort of fan to help sturdy up the plants. One thing I didnt see was how and when to clean the tank. Pretty cool concept and a change for my outdoor gardening from last year but I think I like this method.

This two-tier hydroponic garden cart by GroWell is a serious upgrade from my previous wire shelving with multiple countertop mini-garden type units. Let me tell you, I’m never going back. Never.Out of the box, the setup was straight-forward and all of the parts fit together as they should. It took me about 40 minutes to get it assembled by myself, and the most difficult part of assembly was aligning the tiers so they were straight and level with the ground. Having a partner during that part of assembly would help a lot. All of the pieces were there, and it was packed extremely well. This is a heavy-duty, quality build and nothing about it feels cheap. The lights on this kit are fully adjustable, and they can easily be slid up and down on the side rails according to the size of your plants. This, along with the fact that the lights are strong enough to be sufficient for growing makes all the difference in growing seedlings that are sturdy, and not spindly. The light panels get slightly warm, never hot, and the quality of light is pretty evenly spread over the planting trays. There are so many grow openings in this hydroponic system that I skipped every other hole to give plants some space as they grow. I love that I can have so much flexibility to space plants according to their sizes without losing precious grow slots. This unit easily replaces my 5 table top gardens. There are ample grow sponges, stickers, and humidity domes included in the kit for several rounds of plantings, and a starter supply of nutrient mix to last through several weekly feedings. The little plant tags that come with it are adorable, and it makes it so much easier to see what is planted where. You just use a dry erase marker to label them, and they stick into the little holes on the tray lids so you can see them above your seedlings. Cute and clever.I was a little concerned about the amount of water this system holds (24 Liters), and the fear of something leaking kept me from filling it right away. There isn’t much chance of a leaking issue from what I can see, and it’s been working just fine with no signs of drips in any part of the system. The pump on the lower level circulates the water through the upper level, and when it reaches a certain level, the water is drained down the opposite side and back to the lower level. Using the plastic hole covers on any unplanted openings will prevent evaporation, and it’s recommended to only refill the water level with the nutrient solution each week. I used distilled water so that nothing in my tap water will interfere with what I’m growing, or cause mineral buildup. Also, since algae build up and root rot has been an issue with my smaller units, I am making sure to use the enclosed stickers to cover the planted sponges to reduce the light that reaches the sponge. Hopefully that, along with the amount of water running through this system will keep those issues to a minimum. There is an optional battery-powered safety alarm to alert you if there is a power failure or something goes wrong, and the battery is even included!Another thing I love about this kit is that with all that’s going on, it’s tidy, with a single plug controlling it all. No more power strips in several outlets trying to guess which plug goes to what. I even have room in the outlet for my fungus gnat trap. This setup takes up exactly the same amount of space as my wire rack shelving, and it’s on wheels so it can be effortlessly repositioned when I want to clean. This hydroponic set would be a fantastic size for someone with a small apartment and no yard to grow their own food or flowers. My previous wire rack is now my supply closet, seed rack, and potted plants station. I feel like I finally have the perfect little setup, and I’m really really glad I gave this a try. It has surpassed my expectations, and I think it’s a great value, especially when you reap the rewards of growing your own food. I think you’ll be more than happy with it, too.
