Planning a picnic but short on storage space? A collapsible picnic basket might be the perfect solution. Here's a closer look at this space-saving take on the traditional picnic basket:Pros:Space-Saving Superstar: Folds flat for easy storage, a major advantage over bulky traditional baskets.Carry Comfort: Unfolds to hold picnic essentials and often features handles or shoulder straps for comfortable carrying.Element Protection: Protects your food from sun, wind, and light showers. Some may even have insulated lining for temperature control.Cons to Consider:Material Matters: Durability depends on the materials used. Look for reviews on how well it holds up over time.Weight Limits: Pay attention to weight capacity to avoid straining the folding mechanism or handles.Style Selection: Various styles and sizes exist. Consider features like compartments or insulation based on your needs.Overall:A collapsible picnic basket is a practical choice for outdoor dining, especially for those with limited storage. Its portability and space-saving design are major perks. However, consider material durability, weight capacity, and desired features to ensure you choose the perfect collapsible basket for your next picnic adventure.

I got this not as a picnic basket but for my "hotel kitchen" kit. I wanted something that could be folded down for storage, since I live in a small apartment without much storage, but also something that would be sturdy enough to hold all the things I take when I travel and stay in hotels. I don't like eating out all the time, so I like to cook simple meals. This "picnic basket" with the configurable compartments allows me to pack a small electric frying pan, some utensils, collapsible storage containers, and whatever else I think I'll need. The square container fits easily into the back of the SUV and is strong enough to allow me to sit a bin of food on top. This item itself is very light, so it doesn't add a lot of weight to my kitchen kit. I can see it being handy for taking non-perishable food to a picnic as well, and the dividers that stick in place with velcro would allow it to secure containers in place, as it holds the electric frying pan steady and secure in mine. Another potential use would be storing seasonal plates and serving dishes so they remain dust-free. When not in use, it stores almost flat and takes up little space, and so I'm glad I have this to make live easier while traveling without being hard to store in between trips.

This seems like a very decent lightweight storage solution — it collapses almost completely flat, so it’s easy to tuck away when not in use; and when turned into a box it can fit a fair amount of stuff…The bottom, walls, and side are strong enough to keep things in place, and you could easily stack a few of these boxes on top of each other if needed…. Although I wouldn’t put anything too heavy in them, as it does feel like the sort of storage box that will eventually bend, and could start having trouble keeping its shape if it ever crumples under too much weight…Everything feels relatively sturdy when folded out in box-form, with the bottom reinforcement layer pressed down — but at the end of the day it’s still just a lightweight collapsible storage box.The optional inner walls allow for some customization, since they’re inserted via Velcro, so you can use or not-use various pieces of the wall and move them around to different spots to accommodate organizing different sized items… There is one particular pattern of arranging the inner walls that works best though, which requires a bit of trial and error to get right (it’s like a three-piece three-dimensional puzzle, basically, with the main clues being where the Velcro is and isn’t provided on the inner walls)… With the inner walls in place, the overall box also feels much more rigid, durable, and stackable, as that inner architecture adds more structure to the cube. The lid won’t get lost since it’s attached — and it zips closed easily.I’m not sure if I’d use this as a picnic basket very often — but it’ll be good lightweight storage for organizing a variety of items in a closet, garage, or car trunk.

This collapsible picnic basket has a great price (around $14.00) and when opened with the inserts installed it's actually quite sturdy and very handy. There's a convenient zip top to help keep contents clean and cloth handles on both sides for easy toting around. Once inserts are velcro'd inside there are a total of 5 compartments - 1 large square, 1 long rectangle, and 3 same size squarish-rectangle compartments. At first it's confusing to figure how to "install" the velcro sided insert panels correctly and the buyer may have to look at a photo on the item description online to figure it out. It would be nice to have a photo included showing the installed panels so there'd be no need to look it up.While this is meant to be a picnic basket it is also great as a trunk organizer to hold a small amount of groceries and separate bottles of wine or liquids so they don't rattle around and have a chance to break. Would also be convenient to separate food items from cleaning products if using as a grocery run trunk organizer. This is a neat little item and we found it useful.
