The bowl's appearance is just like it is pictured. It has a wonderful deep sound which is what I was looking for. The tone of my bowl is basically F#. Sometimes the overtones pushes it a perfect 5th higher to C#. I used the tuner that I use to tune my cello to check the pitch/tone.When I was unable to hear the sound/vibrations, after stroking it, I would place a finger five or more inches from the bowl on the wooden table where it rested to see if I could feel the vibrations. . . and I could! And when I could not feel the vibrations on the table where it rested, I would touch it with one finger and feel the slight vibrations. There were times when I would touch the bowl after fifteen or more minutes, and with the touch I thought that I had stopped the vibrations, then when I would touch it two or three minutes later the vibrations had reconstituted themselves and the bowl had continued to vibrate. In treating my seven Chakras with this bowl, including starting with my feet, I would move the bowl after every five to seven minutes to the next Chakra and each time I could feel the vibrations on my body and with my hands as I moved the bowl.On two or three occasions, after using the long mallet that came with the bowl, I would walk away and come back twenty-five minutes or more later and touch the bowl and it would still be vibrating. The large donut shaped cushion that comes with the bowl is about about 11 1/2 inches in diameter and the bowl sets very nicely and securely on it. However, I experimented with placing it on a 5 inch cushion and anchoring the bowl with my three fingers, inside the bowl, it sounded/vibrated much longer with its deep church bell like sound! In rubbing the bowl, I managed to produce a nice sound very easily and I am a complete novice when it comes to singing bowls. I found however, I could produce a sound more easily when the bowl was placed on a wooded surface than when I used the donut cushion on a rug. In fact, I could not produce a sound when it was resting on a rug.I am learning how to use my singing bowls by reading a book "How To Heal with Singing Bowls." by Suren Shrestha and taking lessons privately. I have been playing this Singing Bowl for about three days and it is a very satisfying and gratifying feeling. . .and time consuming as I am trying to figure out the time length of the sound, the different pitches/sounds that emanate when one is rubbing it, where/how to nuance the sound by striking it one inch, two inches, or mid section from the top of the bowl!I am finding that there is no right place to stroke the bowl . .the feelings that are conjured up with the stroking of the bowl, just engulfs me regardless of where I strike it! And I have produced a sound from the bowl by striking it, inches apart, around the entire circumference of the bowl. And being that no strike is exactly the same, the sound results varies with each stroke . . .I guess this is one of the reasons why Singing Bowls are so wonderful . . every stroke and sound is different from the one that came before it! This is such a wonderful bowl and a totally new experience for me! I would recommend this bowl, if they produce it again. I purchased the last one that they had!I would like to comment on the craftsmanship of the bowl. As I stated in my opening paragraph, the bowl looks exactly as pictured. The craftsmanship/designs/workmanship on the bowl are absolutely exquisite and awe inspiring! Oh how I would like to meet the spiritually inspired craftsmen who labored, undoubtedly inspired by the Universe, to create a Singing Bowl so Wonderfully designed and that sings forever! I am Thankful and I will be eternally Grateful for what they have done in creating my/this Singing Bowl! It is my wish that the sellers convey to these wonderfully inspired craftsman my humble sense of appreciation and Gratitude!!

I had really high hopes for this bowl. I have several singing bowls but was looking for a large bowl that emits a deep hum that vibrates the solar plexus. A friend has one that is nowhere near as pretty but vibrates forever. You only get that deep hum when you rub the mallet around its rim. This bowl sadly not only has no hum but also won't hold a gong strike. Any of my cheaper bowls performs better than this one. I understand that it is rooted in how the metal is worked, but I would have expected the company to test their bowls and notice the flaw in this one.I am still looking...
