  • It has a hard plastic back which is solid and of firm construction that lets you use it on a pillow in your lap without poking stuff below or yourself.

  • This one does the job more accurately for your felted projects. It is easy to work on, and not noisy and long-lasting. However, with this pad, you have to be careful not to stab your needle down too far or you will hit bottom and break your needles.

This is not my favorite needle felting surface mostly due to size. But as a beginner it was quite useful in teaching me to not drive my needles in too far. I will definitely still use it on small projects.

I think the foam blocks work better for melding the yarn together.
