I bought this as a replacement fan for a similar Lasko pedestal fan that stopped working. It lasted 14 years with almost daily use for many hours a day. Pretty darn good for a plastic fan. I am hoping this one will last a long time as well. The design is good. It snaps together easily, and is easy to take cover off for cleaning and dusting when needed. It has good air flow, and is reasonably quiet. Ideal for air circulation in a bedroom or medium sized room. Not an industrial fan, so it doesn't push tons of air. The pedestal has infinite height adjustments, and the oscillation is nice and wide. The highest setting (3) pushes quite a bit of air. (2) is ideal for general air circulation, and lowest setting(1) is good for sleeping. A good value for the price, and looks nice too.

I am enjoying this fan quite a bit. I've gone through plenty of fans including a few purchased right here on Amazon. This is my first pedestal fan from Amazon itself, but the majority of fans I owned in the past were pedestal so I've seen my fair share of terrible quality hunks of plastic. I can honestly say this is not one of them.Pros:Great oscillation. Very silent with quite a broad range so air goes all over the room (which was necessary for me since I share a room and it gets quite hot for both of us at night).Adjustable. I've never owned an adjustable fan before. All the pedestals I've owned in the past were in a fixed position (which is a bit odd now that I look back at them). Being able to adjust the height is incredible since I switch this fan from the bedroom to the living room very often. It's incredibly simple to adjust and stays solid once you lock it in.Stationary. I was a bit skeptical of the stability when it first arrived due to the weight being on top and the plastic not being too heavy on the bottom. But after using the fan for a couple months now it is very sturdy and will not budge a millimeter unless you want it to.Cons:Mildly noisy. No matter what setting you have it on, it will be a bit noisier than I'd like, which is my main reason for docking an egg. Of course, it is a cheap fan so I didn't expect much, but it is a con nonetheless as I watch TV with this fan right next to me all the time, and it does make me turn the volume up a bit.Conclusion: Great fan overall, especially at this price point. Good oscillation, very nice adjustable height range, a bit noisy but keeps the room very cool with a wide oscillation range. I would definitely buy another one and very well might buy another one in the future so I dont have to swap this between my living room and bedroom.

UPDATE: December, 2013. I have change this rating from a 2 star to a 4. The fan has proven itself worthy and with the daily use for the past few months, it made me reconsider my initial judgement. Although the shipping of this fan was poor, the fan itself has been good. No issues have risen and it has been quiet when running.I just had this fan delivered and I already have a good idea this isn't a smart purchase. This shipping and packaging is horrible. I received my fan in it's original content box. NO shipping box was around it. No invoice or receipt came with the box. Nothing but a shipping label was put on this item. When I opened up the box, expecting that it would be properly packaged for secure shipping, I was highly disappointed. The motor was in a flimsy, thin, baggie type bag. One super small piece of packing paper and that was it for packaging material. The item's pieces must have crashed into everything on it's way to my home.Although that sounds bad, it may not be as breakable as one would assume. The whole thing is nothing but THIN, flexible plastic, not much thicker than a plastic soda bottle. So any damage that would come from a lack of packaging material would be the motor. So far, the motor is working. AMAZING, but I'm not very confident that this MADE IN THE USA pedestal fan will make it through the next week. I can only pray.It was simple to put it together...barring the screen/cage that protects the fan blade. All I can say about that is you better pack your patience and have extra time on your hands. I had the entire fan put together in less than 5 mins, but it took almost 15 mins to snap on the cage/fan blade protection. The plastic is too thin and flexible to make this easy to attach.The motor seems to be strong and it is relatively quiet. Although the controls are easy to get to, they too, are plastic and I don't expect they can handle too many turns w/o breaking.So, would I recommend this product to my family and friends?? NO way!! If this is what products in America are made of, then this is very sad. If this is Amazons idea of cost saving shipping... I will shop at a store in my area. I may have lost a little $$ with this item, but Amazon may lose my business in the future. I hope it doesn't come to this.

I've had this fan a couple of months now and, as other reviewers have stated, is adequate for the basic job of a fan. It moves air and moves it well. But, yes, the blade cage is plastic. That's not the real problem though, as far as I'm concerned. It serves the purpose and doesn't seem to introduce any undue noise. But, what I don't like is how the two halves fit together or come apart. The way they snap into place means I will need a tool (something like a screwdriver) to snap the tabs out of the slots so the two halves can come apart when it's time for cleaning. I'm used to other locking mechanisms that release easily with the fingers only. Also, although the fan is quiet at the lowest of the 3 speeds, higher speeds do introduce a slight "whine" that could be a problem for some, including myself, when used in a bedroom. Overall, I gave the fan a 3-star rating because it's adequate, but no more than that. Also, as others have stated, it IS LIGHT GRAY ... NOT WHITE ... so the description needs to be changed.
