The sample set I received had quite a few quality control issues. The numbers on the edge are not vertically centered so they're cut off or smeared looking on most chips, and the thickness of each chip appears to vary quite a bit (for example, the 25 chip appears thinner than the others). The ceramic feels more like a clay composite because it can be fairly easily scratched/nicked. Overall not my favorite chips that I've sampled

Let me say first that the sample set itself is great and you should get sample sets of chips before investing hundreds of dollars into complete sets. As for the chips themselves, they're definitely not my favorite but here are the pros and cons.Pros1) Ceramic chips so they don't have the smell of chinese clay chips like the milanos.2) One of the few chips out there that have the denominations on the edges which is fantastic .3) They're much less slick than regular ceramic chips because they have a sandpaper-like sticker on their surface.4) The larger denomination chips are 43mm instead of the normal 39mm so it's a lot like casinos and allows to to tell the difference just by feel.Cons1) The sticker they used to create the texture is clearly visible on the edges. I don't like how it looks and I'm also not a fan of the artificial feel it creates in an attempt to be more chalk-Paulson like.2) The font on the denominations on the chips is super small so if you're playing with older people they'll have a very hard time reading the denominations.3) The design is very boring. The good thing about most ceramic chips is that they normally have interesting and varied designs on each denomination of chip, these don't.Bottom line: If you're looking for a good quality set for poker tournaments then I think the laurel crowns are a very good choice, especially since they have high denomination chips and you can also get plaques for higher denominations like $100,000 which always makes it interesting when the plaques come into play. However, if you're looking for a poker chip set that is going to be used for cash, I think there are better ways to go (e.g. the cheaper milanos if you want that Paulson chalky clay feel, or the more expensive tiki kings if you want a ceramic chip that doesn't have the china clay smell).

These are a good example of the chip set.

Nice chips overall. There are no insert stickers or ugly dice on the rims, the chips look good and the colors and graphics are nice. The sound is a bit metallic sounding, as opposed to casino clays and the 10 gram chip feels even lighter than that. Note: the 25k chip is slightly larger than the rest of the stack, so they won’t be even with all the others. Glad I bought the sample set, it has helped me decide to choose a different 1000 piece set instead, mostly because of the price of these compared to other less costly sets, but if you have the extra cash to spend, you probably won’t be disappointed with these.

Great ceramic chips. They are textured on the flat surfaces so that is one thing to consider before buying a full set of these. The 25,000 chip (lime green) was considerably larger than the other chips. Not sure why that is. The darker colors will rub off on the lighter color chips after shuffling and rubbing them together for a while. I do like the numbers on the outer edges of the chips. No thickness or flatness issues.

Absolutely high-quality ceramic chips. Nice finish and matte texture, consistent edges, great "clink" sound, and uniquely colourful.

They are great, I recommend that if you are thinking about setting up a poker set pick up the sample sets so that you can pick the best ones for you.

Pros:Edges are clean. All the chips are uniform in shape and quality. They stack evenly and shuffle very nicely.Textured faces give a nice feel when shuffling.Cons:So far, there hasn't been any residue left on the chips after shuffling for hours, but the colors have started to wear out on the edges.Numbers on the edges are cut off on some chips if you really care about that.(The green 25000 chip is larger than the others... not really a con, just wasn't expecting it due to the photos)
