A good tool for aerating small areas of lawn if soil is not too dry and hard.Make sure it is well watered before you start.

The aerator only worked to pull the first plug. Then the tines would get packed with dirt and I had to use the tool to clear them before moving to the next set of holes. I tired the soil dry, slightly wet and very wet. Every time the dirt did not push up into the collection tray, but got packed and the tool needed cleaning.

For $24 delivered it is a good tool to have. During assembly make sure you put the nuts on your non dominate leg side with sharp part of the aerators closest to you. That will make it so you don't bang your knee on them. Even still I knocked off the nut cover caps and lost 2 of them already.I don't love the core collector because I just dump them back on the yard to get reincorporated into the soil anyway but the welds seem pretty solid on it. The foot bar is a little too tucked inside but the way I did it was just kept my foot on it and walked along stepping my foot into the lawn and pulling out without removing my foot. But, and it is a big but, that only worked on the less compacted and very damp soil. The more compacted the soil, the harder to get it even wet and dry soil just gets stuck in the tines. Clearing the clog is not easy.I got this to supplement the power aerator my landscaper does and could not imagine doing an entire yard with it if you already have very compacted soil. If you have kept up with aeration and you irrigate deeply for 2 days then I think one could easily use this for an entire lawn. People have complained about the strenuous exertion required but it's like everything else. If you have neglected your lawn for 20 years and have compacted soil, then yeah it is going to be hard. Just use the powered aerator or pay for someone to do it the first couple times to get to a workable soil consistency. It's not the tools fault you have bad soil conditions.Seems sturdy enough for several seasons worth of aerating. I don't love the cleaning tool, that you basically have to turn it upside down to dump the cores and the foot bar placement makes it harder to drive straight into the lawn. When the tines get compacted it tends to rip the grass out which ain't great. The cores are slightly larger diameter than the machine ones I'm used to and the 3 holes end up being pretty close together.

I got this in order to perforate my clay soil yard so it would hold more water. It definitely does the job! It makes nice big holes in the ground without too much effort. Good design and good ergonomics. The included tool makes it easy to clean out the hollow spikes.Assembling the aerator is quick & easy. Just 4 bolts. It comes with the needed wrenches. The design of it allows it to bend or twist to your motion just a bit, which leads to a more natural motion as you drive the spikes into the ground. I'm fully confident that this tool will outlast the welded tiller we have. It takes very little effort to use, so you will never need to put any strain or leverage on the tool. I also like that it comes with plastic covers for the protruding nuts+bolts, protecting them and also preventing any chance of you being scratched by them.I plan to make some "depth guards" for this, which will just be rubber blocks that go over the spikes and control how deep they can sink into the ground. Then this can be a general-purpose planting tool, as well! It's very nice to have something that actually removes material and makes neat little holes, even in compacted clay-like ground. It takes a lot of the labor out of planting, makes my planting more consistent, and it helps me move material from one part of the yard to another without having to break out a shovel or deal with tree roots. If you raise plants in those tiny planters (the ones that look like ice trays), those plugs will be able to go right into the holes left by this tool. Of course, you may leave some holes empty or plant multiple things at once, to ensure they all have the right spacing from one another, but figuring this part out is way easier than digging holes in the summer heat!I highly recommend this item for landowners and people trying to garden in compacted ground.

This aerator is the absolute perfect length for the spikes to get deep enough to get into the roots to let air get down and help your lawn. Very easy to use and super simple to put together. Comes with a fork to clear out any clogs that may get caught. As you press down the plug comes out and lands in the collection tray so you don't have to worry about all these cores laying around your property. It is absolutely the perfect length. Good sturdy foothold to apply any added pressure that you need. Overall this is the perfect tool for a healthier and Greener lawn. I've had it for 3 weeks now and I've used it for my entire property and my grass is already come back healthier and greener than it was before

This product has great functionality and is easy to use it just step on to push it into the soil and you can work it back and forth to loose. The soil and get air in the soil. It looks great on my raised beds and helps break up any compacted soil. It fits in the tool clasp in the garage and looks nice. Great value for the money two thumbs up!

I used this on a small patch of grass and it kept clogging. It comes with a tool to remove the plugs but even that proved time consuming. If you only need to aerate a small patch of grass this will do the trick. I have a half acre and used it on the 4’ x 4’ patch of grass in front of my shed that gets compacted from foot and lawn equipment traffic. Took me 30 mins and then called it quits. Quality seems fine and it definitely looks nice but I didn’t find it as easy to use as I had hoped.
