These are just what you need when you solder your wires up.This simple design adds a bunch of copper wire in a well. When your finish your solder, poke your tip in and out of this cleaner and the copper will gently clean the tip off nice for the next use.You get two with this pack! They work great and helps me weld better! Happy with my purchase.

As other reviewers have noted, it's unclear whether this is supposed to be copper or brass, which is a problem for those trying to pick the right material for their situation. That said, it does work, so it will be fine if you're not finicky. I probably wouldn't use it on a top of the line station, but it's okay on a cheap iron.

I get it, I should have read the description better. But the pic is of Brass, and that is what is typically sold with a solder tip cleaner. Pic is misleading.

Confusing... At first it states "Copper Wire Ball", but then in the more detailed description it states "Soft coiled brass tip cleaner". So which is it? Copper and brass are both softer metals, softer than steel from which the tip of the soldering iron is made, so I was fine with it either way and purchased the item. It arrived yesterday and based on color alone, it looked like "Copper Wire Ball" to me. Upon further testing with a magnet, the "Copper Wire Ball" stuck to the magnet. Well, copper and brass do not stick to magnets, but steel does. This test indicates to me the wire ball is most likely made from copper coated steel, which might not be a good idea to use for cleaning the soldering iron tips which is what it is being advertised as. If used as advertised it will likely shorten the life of the soldering iron since steel rubbing against steel will wear each other out. Not sure I want to mess with returning it, I should have ordered the brass wire balls and used them in a small glass jar (like baby food glass jars). I hope this helps someone to make the right decision about purchasing this item since the information provided by the supplier is inaccurate.
