After a recent training class on handling and care for fiber optic network, I can say this tool is a must-have.It works well for cleaning both the ends of fiber cables as well as the ports.The attached cap makes swapping between male and female ends quick and easy. The indicator window for checking filament life is convenient.

I am a fiber technician. I use this daily to clean fine dust off my connectors. This one click tool is as good as any others that I have used. I keep the tool inside its plastic bag when not in use to protect it from dust and debris. Once dust get inside its parts, it becomes useless as that dust gets transferred onto what you are trying to clean. If you do not have a fiber scope to verify a clean connector, then you should at least one click each end before mating connectors.

I had a fiber line short, hoped this would be a cheap solution but it didn't. So, I can't say how effective it is.It is easy to use - simple.Looks like all the brands have the same design and build.

I have used two of this particular brand... the first one "cleaning string" broke within 40 clicks. The second one leaves string particals all over the fiber ends. Both of them left scratches on the fiber heads and cores. I'm going to try some others... but this brand is only use as a last resort.
