The KEASLYFL brand “Lead Test Kit with 30 Counts Accurate Lead Paint Testing Swabs…” seems like a very good value for $10, just 30 cents per a test. However, I was very sad that I could not prove that these work. The instructions don’t mention what kind of water or what temperatures the test is accurate at, but I tried to make it scientific, I used distilled water and 66F (18.9C) for my trials. There is a particular bit of my garage door that I know was painted white and had a lock fixture on it from 1963, only removed a few years ago, most certainly lead paint. Tested negative. I sanded it and tried again, negative. I also tested the electrical panel, which has a 1964 inspection sticker and no paint since, also negative. A couple of other spots in different colors, negative. However, again, I can’t say the product doesn’t work either. I’m not a chemist and my home might be atypical. Hence, two stars instead of one.Honestly you (the person reading this) can’t trust some rando reviewer on Amazon (that’s me) with your family’s safety, but I respectfully ask you to find some sort of certified testing that will surely cost much more than $0.30, but leave less doubt for your family’s safety. If you need to test for lead paint, you need to test with a proven product or service!

I am a vintage glass and ceramics collector. This is a must have!! Quick and easy to use. Comes with simple instructions, within a minute you can detect lead. 30 swabs come in the pack, therfore you can do 30 tests. Whether you're a collector, live in an older home, or have babies that out everything in their mouth- I highly, highly recommend. This is an easy and affective way to protect yourself and family from lead toxicity.

After our child tested positive for lead, we bought these to check things in our home. After checking a couple different things that all came back negative we wanted to check something we knew was lead, we tested a lead tip bullet, and lead fishing weights still was negative….

I picked up this Lead Test Kit with 30 swabs to check for lead contamination in my home. The promise of instant results and a user-friendly design sounded like a good idea for ensuring safety. The swabs are easy to use—wet the tip, shake off excess water, and rub the surface for 30 seconds. Then see if it changes color. I didn't get any color change (yay), but then I read other reviews about lead weights not registering, so now I am pretty concerned. I didn't have a control to test this with, but I'm not relying on them until I can.If they actually work, I'd be happy but the verdict is still out for me. It seems dangerous not to have a control of some sort for these swabs if people are relying on them for safety.

I tested these against a few varieties and a trusted brand. These were much more expensive per test vs the trusted brand ($10 for 30 for these, $11 for 90 for the trusted brand). These also consistently had false negatives. I had one brand with false positives, and one with false positives/unclear, but this one is the worst with consistent false negatives. They're completely useless. DO NOT BUY.

So I won't lie, I totally bought these to test my water supply after I got a letter from my city saying that the old pipes may have lead in them. I was wondering why the instructions said to "rub surface!" Anywho, I figured out these are for testing painted and other surfaces for lead. I did in fact use it and thankfully our wall does not have lead in it, not sure about our water though. They were super easy to use, you just run the qtip under water, shake it off, and rub the test area for 30 seconds, and then compare. The color chart is easy to read and accurate to what color shows up on the qtip when complete. It's a great value as you get 30 test swabs for around $10. Overall, I would recommend these for anyone who is worried about lead in their home.

The only thing you need to test for lead, in something that you are concerned about, is just one of these swabs, a dap of water to activate the swab and the surface to be tested. I did not get a positive result which is a relief, however I cannot say how clear a positive result would be. I am grateful to now have them on hand for future uses.

I haven't been able to test these against a known lead sample, however if I do, I'll be sure to update my review with information if it came up with a false negative. So far, I've been able to test it against things I know are lead-free, and some that I'm not sure. Everything has been negative, which is okay, and shows that I am at least not coming up with false positives.
