I’ve used this for the past 45 years on my tack, only once a year, no other dressing camp area, I’m glad it’s still available?

Bought this after watching some videos that showed how to use this on coats to make them supple. I knew it was a risk, but I tried it anyway because everyone said it was non greasy and wouldn't change the color. I used it on a gray shearling. The leather darkened from a medium light gray to a dark graphite and never completely dried. I've used corn starch, talcum, acetone based leather cleaners, rubbing alcohol, detergents, heat, boiling, buffing towels, everything. It's not coming out, and incredibly, if I leave it on any cloth, paper or other absorbent surface for ten minutes, it stains them like greasy fast food in a paper bag. I learned this after it destroyed a much nicer suede coat it came in contact with. That said, it seems invincible and I know a lot of people love it. I just don't have anywhere to use it where the greasy residue would be acceptable.

Ce produit m'a été recommandé par une amie qui monte classique. Garde le cuir souple. On l'utilise depuis des années. Très satisfaite.

I used up the full 500ml tin to paint a medium size 3/4 length vintage sheepskin coat. The coat absorbed it with no marks, fully blended and restored the velvety feel and aspect of the coat after having been through the washing machine. The consistency of this dressing is light and fully drenches the hide. The liquid is truly 100% odour free.I don’t think it is water repellent though, surely it offers some level of protection (?) rain does penetrate the hide rather than slide off in beads. So no.The original colour of the lightly darkens after application and reverts fully to the original tone. The finish is ‘dry’…the opposite of greasy. It gets absorbed and then ‘vanishes’.It restores the softness of the hide beautifully, but if waterproofing is required use something like dubbin, which totally water repellent. It is not entirely clear to me is what ingredients this ‘lanolised leather dressing’ contains…is it a closely guarded secret?..it reminds me of the silicon spray I use on my rubber jockstrap. I’d really like to know.
