For the money this $32 LED whip is one heckuva great value. It doesn't support RGB and you can't make the lights dance or change color or spin around but I don't need nor do I want all that stuff. This whip is lighter in weight because it's only got 2 rows of LED's... which means it doesn't flop around as much when you are out driving. It's a simple 2-wire hookup. I chose to use bullet connectors so I can remove the whip and not have to do any disassembly of the wiring to get it through the mounting hole. I had to solder the tiny wires on the whip directly to the male bullet connector end that goes to larger existing 14ga wiring. The mount is simple and includes a basic split lock washer and a non-locking nut. I ditched that and am running a flat washer and a Nyloc now. There are wrench flats machined into the base that let you get this sucker good and tight and with the whip LED's positioned how you want. I choose "forward / backward" because I want the light to be brightest facing forward and rearward. The one downside... the manufacturer includes an Orange "Flag" that is designed to slide over the top of the whip. Unfortunately there is no great way to secure the flag to the pole. Zip tie... it slides up and the only thing that keeps the flag from falling off (so far) is the cap on the pole. I think the better solution will be to have a daytime whip with a flag and a night time whip with the LED's and just run both all the time to keep the Rangers happy. This small complaint wasn't enough to knock off a star but it would be nice if the manufacturer could come up with either a better flag or a better way to secure the flag they currently provide.
