You get what you pay for, the materials is very cheap, but the glitter on the year and stars does not flake off and they do not peel off of the sash. The sewing at the end is sufficient to keep it closed so you can wear it. The sashes does come pre-folded with severe creases, but I was able to easily remove them using an old flat iron on the lowest setting and just ironing the parts that were creased (see before and after pics). I was initially worried when I first started because it appeared that the black material had turned purple when heated, but I think it was just a reaction to the heat and the color went back to normal after a couple of seconds. As the description does not list what material the sashes made out of, I couldn’t recommend another way to remove the creases, but it does seem to tolerate heat so you could probably use an iron on a very low setting or even possibly a steamer.
