I've been eyeing this juicer because it looks cool and supports local artisans (per Verve Culture website) but the cast product broke on first use. Very disappointing.

i refuse to buy anything made in China!this juice squeezer is made in Mexico! and it is an excellant product! it is sturdy and well made.I recommend this product! note: it cost a little more than the Chinese JUNK, but this quality made product is worth the extra money!

First of all, I love the look of this squeezer and that its is made of recycled aluminum. Unfortunately there is a fatal flaw, where the top handle meets the press is very weak. The first lime I tried to squeeze a lime it didn't even half squeeze before the handle snapped. If the casting mold had a reinforcement spine in the void of the anvil to connect it with the opposite side of the void I don't think this would happen. Something similar to the way the lower handle is reinforced to by connecting it to the side of the bowl.
