If you can read Chinese this is a snap. How can a company sell a product in the USA and not bother to have the instructions translated into English? This thing took hours to figure out even with the youtube video. Once I FINALLY (after drilling 6 extra holes) got it in place it was so difficult to pull down that it was actually putting massive pressure on the piano hinge holding up the lid. No way my grandson could close this thing once it is fully open. I am 75 and have been putting things together for over 50 years and this is a contender for the worst instructions ever. I don't know if I happened to get a piece of junk or what. I see many positive reviews of this so maybe I just got one that was built like crap. I don't know what I will do to control the lid, but this isn't working, even after I finally mounting it.

It worked great for a little while and now it slams shut.... disappointedI see the shaft that the hinge rotates on turns itself so there is no chance of working. Is there a replacement?

The hardware seems to be in good order, but I have not yet installed them because the DIRECTIONS WERE GARBAGE ! The pictured directions were vague & NOT very informative. The measurements were indecipherable, they weren’t in English (SAE- inches) or in metric. They are worse than worthless.I will have to “reverse engineer” these to install them. Its do-able, but would be much easier with good directions.

This is my 2nd order of these hinges. They work better than anything else I have tried. I did have one fail after about 18 months; but, other types have failed sooner; and, other designs did not work nearly as well. I think being more careful with opening the lid they are attached to will extend their useful life.

Included instructions were only written in Chinese. Difficult to install without a video showing the proper install location on the chest side wall. First installed and chest still dangerously slammed shut, with the ability to sever toddler fingers. Video sent from Amazon to purchasers email arrived two days after item arrived. Twelve screw holes later, the item worked well.

Instructions that came with hinges are in Chinese. They finally sent a link in English. We still had the watch the videos we found on you tube several times. Once we figured out the correct measurements ( that were not in the instructions) they were installed and work great. Used 2 for a toy box for the granddaughter, so no smashed little fingers. Good product after you do a lot of research.

Pictured is my fathers old US Navy shipping box that I lined with cedar boards. The slam was not cured with one dampener so I installed a second one. This resulted in a softer close but to dampen it even further I placed two 3" strips of closed cell self adhesive door insulation on the box rim. Heavier lids will require a second brake.

They sent me 2 videos to watch, if you have a normal lid (under 10lbs) 1st video is best to watch. If you have a heavier lid then watch the 2nd video. The difference is how close and how high you set the hinge. I followed the 1st video and it worked perfectly the 1st time ( I only installed 2 of the 4 screws at first to test it out, encase I had to move it).
