My girlfriend and I are beginner kayakers. We bought two of these.First thing to know is these kayaks do not have bulkheads, meaning that if you capsize your kayak will fill with water like a bathtub. Not a problem if close to shore, you can drag it in and easily drain via the drain plug. But open water reentry is nearly impossible for a beginner. My solution was to partially inflate truck tire tubes (16 and 15 inch diameter) in the stern and bow, a tough job but much less expensive than buying NRS or other brands of bow and stern kayak floats. Also, since there are no bulkheads, there are no bulkhead storage areas. So you must stow your bilge pump and paddle floats with the bungee's on deck. There is still enough room for a small cooler and dry bag and dry boxes in the cockpit and I'm 5'11" and 200 pounds. The seats are comfortable for like the first hour on the water but after that they start to get uncomfortable. We like these kayaks, they are easy to carry at 35 pounds each. I will keep them both when we upgrade to better kayaks that have bulkheads so we can take friends out kayaking.
