The parts fit my Forester, and buying through Amazon saved me $72. Buying the part from the dealer would have cost $100!

Replaced our broken ones on our forester. These work great - easy for a non-mechanic to install

Good enough replacement, just keep them greased at the pivot points or they'll rust out too.

The driver side arm of the hatch snapped off at the ball and socket joint where it attaches to the hatch, which dropped the whole thing, nearly decapitating me. Used a stick until that got old. Went to the dealership’s parts department and they wanted $160 for the replacement arm they had in stock. Googled in the shop and found this option for so much cheaper. Worked great. Little awkward to put it back in and needed to use the existing screws since none came with it. I couldn’t easily get off the other side (only tried for like 10 seconds), so I just left it on but now have the matching one for when the passenger eventually fails. This was for my 2014 Subaru Forester with 80k miles, which is generally starting to fall apart….

Fit perfectly. Works great. Was pretty easy to replace, although there were no instructions and my son in law had to help me.

The installation was easy and the lift gates worked as prescribed. Now only time will tell if they are as good as the originals.

I have been fighting with this set to keep the gate up since installing them in August . They totally failed by October and had to use a stick to hold the gate. I just replaced them with a better rated brand and the new brand works like the factory ones . Do not waist your money.

So far so good! Little tight but with a good push on the panel it will fit! Ball joint is the weakest point! High gas pressure, so can’t compress them before installation.

Once installed - it worked great. The install was a little tough for me to do alone. It would probably be fine with two people. Once the ball and socket is screwed into the lift gate, the strut needs to be compressed quite a bit to position the bracket correctly on the door frame. It takes a fair amout of force to so this compression. This is the forth strut I have replaced on 3 different Subarus and this strut was the hardest to install. For other replacenet I bought one factory strut did that not need to be compressedto install. A different aftermarket strut needed to be compressed but the ball and socket came in two pieces so all the parts could be attached to the car and then the strut compressed by one person and socket popped over the ball. Once together a supplied clip was used to keep the ball connected to the socket. This clip rusted out after a year so I'm hoping the single piece design of these struts being reviewed will stand up better.Another area of concern I have is the corrosion resistance of the strut rod. All of the struts I've seen before his one had bright chrome on the rod. The finish on these rods is dark. There is such a thing as "black chrome" which offers excellent corrosion resistance at lower cost than bright chrome so, lets hope that's what we have here. I'll be sure to post later if I encounter corrosion. However, I doubt I'll get more than 12 more monthes form this car (>220K miles) so might not need to worry and will have ben wise to choose a economical replacement.
