I live in a rural area, and power outages happen more frequently than they do for people who live in town. I own quite a few oil lamps for this reason. This lamp is a nice addition to my collection. It was easy to fill with lamp oil (Can be purchased at most home improvement stores) and the wick drew up the oil in just a few minutes. A quick trim of the wick, lit the wick, and good bright (for oil lamps) light. A quick adjust of the height of the wick, and no noticeable smoke. The chimney part fits well, the brass body portion screwed onto the base with no troubles. A good lamp to have around in case of power outages.

The metal chimney holder on this lamp stayed loose and would not seat properly. After some pushing and turning it finally did go on but now it can't be loosened and removed. That's a big problem.Update: the seller promptly replied and offered to address my concerns. I told them that my concerns could be found in my review. They replied with "It's a quality lamp. It just has an unusual fastening which should have been better described." My reply to them was "By 'unusual fastening' I take it you mean that the threads on the metal part that holds the wick do not match the glass threads of the lamp. If it was a quality product, the parts would screw together and screw apart as easily as the threads of a gallon jug." do.Now, in their third email regarding this, they finally tell me that the ring is fastened counterclockwise. So I suppose that turning it clockwise will unscrew it. I will have to check that out when I get the chance since I have boxed it up and was considering a return. I sure hope the are now letting buyers know about this anomaly.
