The solar panel/battery pack collected moisture from a moderate storm in it's housing. (We think it coulda' been a similar amount of water as kids could make splashing.)--The unit still functioned after the water intrusion. The on/off switch was confusing till I read the instructions. The cable retracting reel took some fussing with to loosen it's stiff action. It did extend to about three feet eventually. The actual light housing (that would be in the pool) does appear to be water-proof.The remote control seems to do what it says. The buttons are so close together, I was clumsy with it's smallness.Otherwise, we find them as-described. They have a nice variety of colors and blinking patterns.

Ok solar lights for my above ground pool. I'm unsure of their durability through the season however. They don’t seem very durable and the retractable line was difficult to use. I don’t know if it will last long as it was difficult to extend to begin with. I attached them to the metal portion of my frame as to not ruin the liner if they don't last the entire season.

The lights don’t work. They worked for a few days and now won’t turn on

We got these to add to a couple Gen 2 versions we bought earlier. The gen 2 worked well but wasn’t as bright. These are about the same brightness but have the retractable cord in addition to solar panel light and submerged light. The panel can be tilted to point toward the sun better. The kit includes magnet wall mounts and adhesive to mount them. As our pool was filled already we have just hung them in the pool to start with to see where they work best and will attach them next season. Do note you need to attach something heavy to the back if you're not going to install the magnetic back as the lights are filled with air and will float. We had some heavier chrome plated magnets which we used to weight them down. The build quality seems fairly good and hope they will last at least a season. The remote works well and they are easy to program. I do have a concern that we have a robotic pool cleaner that climbs walls so I do worry that with the multiple parts in the pool that it could get tangled on the lights. The light itself is big so that’s not the issue but the cord is tiny and the retracted is smallish so you never know.Combined with the other two we had all four provide plenty of light in water for our 20x40 in ground pool. I am concerned about the durability of these as they seems a little less robust than the gen2 model, but again time will tell.
