I use these bit to cut 2 x material. With 1/4 inch depth of cut passes I am able to cut through a 2x6 and the spiral upcut clears the chips with no problems and no cutting bit heating.

These bits are perfect for a smaller CNC machine that can't handle the high feed rates necessary for a 2 or 3 flute cutter. I don't know why a previous reviewer wouldn't recommend it for wood; I've had the best results in hardwood and Baltic Birch of any bit I've ever used. Just make sure to set your rpm's and feed rate for the proper chip load. Onsrud it great about providing information for the proper chip load of all of their cutters so it's easy to get a great edge finish. Highly recommended for wood, plastic, and aluminum!
