This thing is built to pinch. Had it on my horse 1 day (properly fitted). She came in with a huge rip in her lip. Then I tried to simulate what must have happened to her, and I ripped my finger doing so.

Upon use my mare started head tossing which is not normal for her. When I took the bit out I noticed a very sharp knife edge where the bit opens up with the loose ring and a cut on the corner of her mouth that was bleeding. This could have been much worse. This bit is defective with the pinch-less portion molded with metal that is too thin or soft. I am working with Amazon on the return. Money spent on a higher quality made item is well spent. This is the second one I purchased, the first 5.5" was too small so the sizing is not correct either. This item should be pulled from the market immediately.

My horse plays with his bit constantly and he needs a six-inch bit which is hard to find. This bit is well made and I've noticed my horse seems to be more comfortable with it. You cannot beat the price for the quality. Very happy and even better, my horse is happy
