I used this instead of my normal schrader valve R410A adapter and honestly didn’t quite get the purpose at first. While this has a valve on the gauge side that can be closed, the schrader valve on the connection end still lets a bit out while disconnecting from the service port… this doesn’t really stop this. Yes if you’re disconnecting your gauges before disconnecting from the service port, you will get two short valve openings instead of one, but this is avoidable.I do have to say that it was much easier burping the lines when adding refrigerant to the vacuumed down line set. Since this has a quick and easy quarter turn valve right before the service port, I closed that valve and loosened the gauge connection at the valve for a second or so, then tightened the hose and opened the valve. While this doesn’t seem to be completely necessary if you already have a schrader converter, this does make some things easier. It is well built affordable, and seals well.
