It is installed on the top of the chimney mount at the top of the fireplace and has a line that attaches to the side of the firebox to open and close it. Not quite as straight forward as The instructions and video make it seem because:1. The bolt included for the guide bracket is about a quarter inch too short and had to be replaced.2. The included silicone glue was hardened in the tube about halfway. there was JUST enough for my installation.Once installed though…great product!

When we moved into our forever home, we discovered there wasn't a damper installed in our gas fireplace. Hubby ordered this and installed in under 30 minutes. Works perfect and does what it is supposed to do.

Nice, simple design. Quality materials and clear instructions. The only tough part of the job was removing the old, warped throat damper which was not required, but I wanted to get it out of there.
