The Heschen Proximity Switch, Model PR30-10A0, is well constructed. It is as described. The detection distance is approximately 7mm. For my unit, satisfactorily meets my requirements. No problems with it.

This is a simple proximity sensor that acts as a normally open circuit till metal passes near the sensor and then it turns on and conducts through the 2 wires. It looks like a capacitive sensor but it's not.It won't detect wood, plastic or your hand at all.Only ferrous metal is detected. It handles from 90- 250V AC input but only at 0.4Amps or less (400mA total current).Even a light bulb as a load could burn it out if its more than 48 watts (120V x 0.4A - 48Watt max)so it's meant for small, control system type of load. This gets installed INLINE with your load to function as a switch. This type of switch is typically used in industrial automation in a factory where it serves as a sensor input to run other circuits such as a relay, lamp indicator or an input to another circuit. Then a 2nd circuit (not present here) would then handle the main load. This is the sensing portion of a larger circuit that can fit many applications. It detected metal consistently when tested from 0 to 0.35 inches away and has an LED output indicator which is useful.
