I really love this design, which is why I decided to splurge on it. However, if you’re not absolutely in love with the design, any other enamel strainer will be just as comparable. I would still repurchase it, however this is definitely a design splurge and not necessarily any more impressive than a $30 enamel colander.

I purchased one of these over 3 decades ago and loved it. I went off for a weekend and my kids managed to severely damaged the enamel finish and bent the top of it after 32 years of use. When I first saw the new price, obviously not the price I paid three decades ago, and looked at alternatives I couldn’t find one the same size. I knew I wanted the same size so it would fit in the same cabinet. I finally broke down and bought this and the mini, couldn’t be happier. Yes, a stainless would be cheaper but the size of these are perfect, the handle is good, good hole spacing for drainage, slightly shorter which allows me to stack them and still fit in a smaller cabinet. Highly recommend.
