We have had so much fun with this kit this week. Really clever ideas but too cheaply made to last. The ball cracked when it rolled off the table and the tape holding on the magnetic lid has failed.

I used the kit with two different groups of kids this summer. One was a summer school group of fourth graders who each learned a trick along with some card tricks and mind reading tricks to do a show for our first-grade class. It was great for oral language development and public speaking. It went along great with our bunny class pet and "Magic Happens Here" theme. I also used it with my nieces and nephews aged 3-9 who used the kit to perform a show for their parents after a week-long vacation with me, wih some card tricks and mind reading tricks sprinkled in. It was an affordable purchase and so much fun. I do have to say though, I think the trick with the flower was missing a magnet. We could never get that one to work correctly, but otherwise, the tricks have differing levels of difficulty, so multiple ages can participate. It would work as well for older magicians, as the audience was left trying to solve the tricks and couldn't figure them out. Any age can perform magic!

Perfect for my 9 yr old who was able to immediately pick up the tricks and do her own magic show.

This is a great little kit. I ordered it for my son for his 7th birthday. He saw a free magic show at the library and of course the magician mentioned that he could be hired for birthday parties and so naturally, my son now wanted a magician at his. I explained to him that if I paid for a magician, we wouldn't have any money for the pizza, the piñata, the cake, etc. so we compromised that he would get a magic kit and put on his own show for his guests. Well in the end Liam the Magnificent liked being the magician even better because he gets to keep the kit and use it whenever he wants, but not only did he get to do the tricks, he really enjoys understanding how they work and he comes up with ideas for new tricks after understanding the idea of how things are done. His 9 year old sister enjoys them and even my friends' older kids thought they were cool. The broken pencil kit is top notch!! So good in fact that I thought I'd accidentally pushed too far a really broken the pencil the first time we did the trick. The instructions are ok, they could be better, I usually need to read them, and then show him how do the trick and a few I needed to follow along while I did the trick and took a few wrong turns. You definitely need to practice each trick once or twice to make sure you know how it will work, and smaller kids will NOT understand without help even if they are good readers. What I LIKE about the instructions is that they give suggestions on how to change up the trick, for example the disappearing box gives a basic trick of making a coin disappear, but then it gives a suggestion of filling the compartment with candy ahead of time and making that appear for your friends to each take a piece; however that is also how they claim there are so many tricks in the kit, each one has several variations. I bought this kit because the reviews said it doesn't rely on slight of hand, so a young one with stubby little fingers can do the tricks (no palming things). The plastic pieces all the tricks are made from seem strong, the only one that may be an issue is the magically appearing "flower" because it is made out of green and red feathers. So far it is intact, but I can see that shedding little fuzzy bits with too much handling, not losing whole feathers, just the pieces of fluff that make them up (if you've ever had a cheap Halloween feather boa you know what I mean). All in all I'm happy with the kit and for the price and the amount of tricks it comes with, it's great! I think that someone really put thought into this kit to choose tricks that are easy enough for a child to do, but fancy enough to be impressive. And while there aren't 350 tricks, there aren't even 35, there are enough for a fun magic show.
