Works well with a deck that strengthens creatures based on life giving cards.

This will work very nicely for my Izzet deck. I wanted a nice combo of spells and artifacts and this will serve me nicely. I might shove one of these in my Rakdos / Rix Maadi deck as well, but who knows. This came in very good condition and it makes me grin that i have a card that has it's artwork is in a few trailers : P

Declare two colors. Anytime you play a card with either color, you gain life. Gimmicky, but can be fun with the right set up.

While standard in MTG doesn't have a lot of cards before Gatecrash I would like to say I had little hope for this card but with the extort feature I would put this in a Black/White deck straight up! Screw the other colors if its life gain this is it.Modern: Meh go for Angel's Feather or one of the other 2 drop artifacts suck the life out of your opponents or your player. This card probably won't see much play for dual color unless you think you don't have enough room for the others.Standard: Yes why wouldn't you if you think you need the life.Modern: Not so much unless you're worried about card space.
