This tool is great for picking up swarf on my lathe and mill. It is especially useful for getting into small areas where larger magnetic pickup tools can't reach. It is easy to drop the swarf off the tool by pulling on the handle. I actually purchased a couple more as presents for a couple of machinist friends.

Seems to be built well. I’ve used it a lot without any issues. It’s perfect for cleaning chips from a lathe or mill.

I purchased two swarf magnets, one for my metal lathe and one for the end mill. The one on the right is the one being reviewed. It is solidly built, and much heavier than the other tool (bigger and stronger magnet). It is also less expensive than the tool on the left. I would buy the tool featured in this review again and probably will. Both magnet tools work and I am keeping both (the description on both was clear but hard to judge quality from description and picture) but I won't be purchasing from this dealer again.

Could have a little more magnetism, won't take as much swarf at a time as other makes.A stronger magnet can be added.

I use this to pick up chips thrown by my cold saw and welding wire. Has a collar on the shaft to wipe the particles off when the demag plunger is pulled out. And its shiny - couldn't ask for more.

I don't know how I lived without something like this in my shop. Awesome for picking up chips from the lathe and the mill, but even more awesome for cleaning up grinding dust (apparently I'm a grinder and not a welder - even though all I grind are my less than perfect welds)
