The title of the product clearly states it is a 4-pack, so I was expecting 4 jets to come included in the package. I only received one!!! What the heck.

The Small Mikuni Round jet is not what the BS CV carburetor has installed from the factory! It is the Large Round jet, that is recommended for the HS/RS carbs. The reason this is important: the BS CV carb has a sealing washer and the surface of this jet is minimal and may not seal at all. This jet is intended for a Super BN pumper/diaphragm carb that is used on 2 stroke boat motors, not correct for the BS CV carb. The correct jet part no. is N100604142.5, for the BS34/2G2-00 installed on a 1979 Yamaha XS750SF. This part carries N102221142.5, the last 3-4 digits of the P/N is the jet size, in this case 142.5. The K&L Carb Rebuild Kit, 18-2662 for the XS750, contains a N100604130 Jet, which is the original size jet. I am not sure how this issue has occurred, suffice to say the BS CV carb no longer appears on the Mikuni Power website and may have even been discontinued. It was very popular in the mid to late '70's and early '80's on most multi-cylinder Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki and others. Along the way, someone decided this jet would work in the BS CV carb, but I don't believe this part is interchangeable with the original... it might fit, but may not seal/perform correctly. Changing jets is big enough pain without installing the wrong part! The Main Jet, is of course, the main part in the carburetor that can be changed to compensate for intake and exhaust changes and hopefully add performance. Remember, one jet size is 2.5, so going from 130 to 142.5 is 5 jet sizes, 5 X 2.5 = 12.5. This is what is normally recommended to start with when you go to open air breathers and a less restrictive exhaust. Then by watching plug color and exhaust gas deposits around the muffler opening, along with the performance, will help to determine if further changes will need to be made. If you go to a much too large jet, it can affect even low/mid performance, causing blubbering, richness and even black smoke. Changing jets without the needed intake and exhaust changes can hurt performance, the motorcycle manufacturer usually knows best what the jet size should be on the stock motorcycle. The needle position also plays a role, but that's a subject for another review.
