I'm happy with this Makita power planer. I used it on my home project to replace all interior doors. The depth adjustment is easy and the cuts were very clean (sharp blades). I do wish it had an attachment to plane at an angle, since I wanted to put a slight angle in the sides of the doors. Still, the doors came out fine and the reconditioned planer I bought worked as if new. I attached a shop vac using the accessory, and was able to catch most of the dust.

Never used an electric planer before but realized this is better for light jobs. Would like to have found a heavier version but not available on Amazon. Easy to use and seemingly durable. Just bounces around on bigger joints jobs.

The Makita planner removed too much wood (red oak) at the zero setting and would gouge the right side badly. See photos. However, it certainly removed wood hence the two stars. Being a reconditioned tool I guess I know why this tool was returned. I don’t know if they (the reseller) actually uses the tool on wood after reconditioning, if not, they really should. The manual says that you can adjust it (not attempted). I’ll go with a new one instead.

Should’ve bought one of these years ago instead of tolerating doors getting stuck under sagging frames. So many things off my honey-do list.

I bought this as a refurbished unit from Amazon. Appeared new but one of the cutters was loose making the cuts wonky. Used the attached gauge to reset and tighten, works great.
