De-energized Operation
Always disconnect the vehicle from power before performing switch replacement. The negative cable can be unplugged for safety.
This prevents short circuits and electric shock hazards.
Removal with Care
Remove the original push-button start switch carefully to avoid damage to surrounding vehicle components.
Disassembly can be carried out according to the vehicle manual or manufacturer's instructions.
Test Function

This only worked for a few starts and then stopped. This is not the most up to date version of this part. We had to purchase from the Honda dealer, paid way more, but it is still working after 6 months of use.

The original start button in the HRV started to get "sticky", where it would take multiple presses to start or stop the engine. Did a quick online search which led me to believe the button itself was the culprit.This was an extremely easy swap. Pop off the plastic panel the button is mounted in, remove the wire harness, push the button out. Install new button, connect wiring harness, and then re-install the plastic panel, which just clips in.Tried it, started right away on the first press. Perfect!

It was an exact match in fit, form, and function to the original factory switch in my 2017 HR-V. It installed without any issues. After a month of use it's still without any problems. The warning light has not come back on since I installed this one. Very satisfied, so far. Only time will tell if it holds up. The factory one only lasted six years.

I have a 2016 Honda HR-V and my Smart Entry light would intermittently go on. After researching online, I decided to try swapping out the ignition start switch myself. I am very hesitant to do car work myself, but the cost of taking my car to the dealership vs buying one of these starters was worth the risk. I also bought an XBRN Auto Trim Removal kit for a few bucks.The whole process literally took me less that 5 minutes and went without a hitch. I thought I would surely mess something up, but my Smart Entry light is no longer on and my car still starts. It's only been a few weeks, but fingers-crossed, it'll continue to work.
