It wasn't very bright. In and of itself, that is a deal breaker.

Our orchestra now rehearses in a hall with inadequate light and pretty much everyone uses stand lights now. Since I have used Manhasset stands for years, naturally I got their LED stand light. This runs on 3 AA batteries or the included power brick, but I noticed that the brick's output was 6v. Hmm. USB runs on 5V. So I fashioned a cable with USB-A on one end and a 5mm jack on the other end and tried it. Viola! (Not viola, the instrument ...) It works. My battery delivers 5V 1000MaH and the light runs about 4 hours on a charge.PROS- Clamps well to the stand using the molded-in clips- Provides adequate light- Works with AA batteries, included 6v adapter, or USB power pack with an adapter cable (you can find these here on Amazon). Neither a USB power pack or adapter cable is included.- High enough above top of stand to stay out of the way of even large symphony folders.- Unlike some other stand lights I looked at, does not stick out from the front of the stand. It takes up essentially zero room in front of the stand.CONS- Just a caution: this is ABS plastic, not metal. Treat the clamps with care so they don't snap on you. This is probably not a good stand light for a rambunctious child.I felt this was a good value from the most popular stand manufacturer in the world.

Light distribution is poor. LED's are placed too high and not far enough out in front of the sheet music, so any unevenness in the paper causes shadowing. I returned mine; would have kept it if the tilt head could have accommodated those faults. Also, for powering this device, I think the manufacturer could have actually saved some of the cost by furnishing a USB cord instead of a dedicated AC power supply. That would make it possible to use this device with any small portable 5volt backup battery, thus making the device far more useful and not eat batteries. (Just to let you know, my experience with this light was on the Manhasset music stand that it is designed for.)
