This worked great for me. It is definitely thick enough to prevent stings, but is not uncomfortably thick or stiff. I use it in Florida and it can be quite hot and sweaty in 95 degree weather, but that's just life. It was easy for me to slide on and off like a sweatshirt. I bought the gloves also, which I put on first. Was still easy to deal with the top, even with gloves on and then you get a good seal without a lot of difficulty. I was worried because the price was so low, I figured it might not be good quality, but as a clothing and costume designer, I can tell you that the seems are good quality. it is well sewn and constructed. It also folds up nicely and doesn't take up a lot of room. I've been really happy with it.

So glad I bought this jacket. My own bees are so gentle, I don't need to wear anything though I usually choose to wear it. It isn't easy to see out of-the dark screen does obscure vision if you are looking for eggs or larvae in dark comb.I wore this to help another beekeeper and while it did it's job, i wish I had bought a full suit, he had been duped and the guy who he had take his bees for almond pollination switched some of his bees out leaving my friend with several hives of africanized bees. The bees didn't waste time stinging the jacket, they of course sensed the carbon dioxide and went for the veil and then my legs. I was wearing jeans. So my recommendation is a full suit for people who are in areas with possible ahb, or deal with Russian bees or unknown bees that commercially pollinate, but the jacket is more than adequate for gentle itallian bees, just wear light colored, baggy pants, not tight jeans, nothing dark either. The veil is probably something that is a matter of preference and may not be acceptable for some people, it can get close to touching your face, some wear a baseball cap under to keep it away from their noses, I find that really irritating, since I have long hair and a head that does not like being squeezed by tight hats, if the cap is not very snug on your head, or your hair is straight, long and smooth, your cap may move around or come off inside the veil during an inspection which is very disruptive. Test the whole cap thing before you use this in the field.Alternative to baseball cap: O"you can augment the veil hood with a stiff coathanger and some thick thread and a needle, creating a hoop that remains inside the base of the hood above the zipper, bend it so there is a little more of a corner toward the front of the veil (like the small end of an egg) and just see loops around it to the fabric every four inches to keep it in the hood and in place. This is what I have done to avoid the hood from touching my face. Took me 20 minutes.

I was impressed by the Mann Lake Professional Beekeeper Jacket as soon as I took it out of the box. The material is heavy duty and the velcro closures seal very well. The first suit I got had a damaged hood zipper but a quick and painless replacement from Amazon was in my hands two days later! Hopefully the plastic zippers will not be a trouble spot. They are large and work smoothly, so I'm hoping they will hold up well in long term use.I ordered the suit in the large size and it fits me, 5' 9'' 190 pounds, loosely, which is what I wanted. It is perhaps just a little oversize, but I didn't want a tight fit that would be conducive to successful bee stings. The hood is roomy and as most have pointed out, will require the user to wear a ball cap so that the peak will keep the mesh away from their nose.I felt very well protected by the suit. The velcro closers are secure and the elastic waist and wrist bands will keep bees from venturing where they are not wanted. The material is thick enough that it should offer good protection. I'm glad I have this suit for my beekeeping.

After researching many similar products, I found this one to do the best job. Sizing was accurate and the jacket was comfortable. Zipper functioned very well and like the velcro that cover the area where the zipper ends. Visibility is good and the self supporting veil keeps the bees away from the face. It's cool to wear yet durable and has great elastic at the sleeves and waist. I would recommend this product.

I am a large guy and am extremely pleased with the fit and finish of this jacket. It is well made, with velcro and elastic straps where you would expect them. The veil is well made and sturdy, no problems ever with bees getting in! The waist has a sewn in elastic so it always remains tight against my pants. The pockets in the front are very handy for storing extra tools while working on the hives. I have used the jacket for quite some time now and it has held up nicely, I like it so much I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. I know new beekeepers always want to buy a full suit, this is not necessary if you wear blue jeans (never been stung through them) and I have owned full suits while visiting commercial operations and believe me they are unbearably HOT inside! This jacket is a good compromise if you are a home owner with a few hives and just want to make sure you are protected!

Bees won't bust you through this jacket as it's made of a thicker material. While the material may protect you against bee stings, there will be a trade off. There are no ventilation holes in the jacket. The only source of ventilation is the meshed sheriff style veil which means plenty of sweaty days in the bee yard. The veil is made of a durable mesh and molded around a frame that allows it to be self supporting. Two zippers are used to secure the veil to the jacket and uses a velcro flap at the center of the neck area to cover any gap that may exist where the two zippers meet. The cuffs of the jacket are velcro adjusted to keep bees from entering inside the sleeves. To ensure the sleeve does not "ride up", there are elastic loops that you slip your thumbs through. There are four pockets on the jacket for hive tools, brushes, etc.For the price point, I don't mind sweating it out a little. This is a good product at a fair price.
