I've had other brands that lasted me 5 years...this one cracked on the first day of using it! Don't waste your $60 on cheap crap like this!

I just used these this evening when hanging some drywall inside a closet. I'm not a drywall pro, so I can't simultaneously hold the drywall up with my head and one hand while screwing the drywall into the ceiling joists with the other hand. These proved invaluable for holding the drywall up while I screwed it in place.I know there are different options out there, and at this price point, I think these are a reasonable option for a homeowner. I'm not sure if they would hold up to daily use by a contractor, but they're intuitive and easy to use and seem to hold a decent amount of weight. As another reviewer pointed out, when bearing a heavier load, these poles do flex a bit, though it didn't seem excessive. Time will tell how they hold up, since I can envision a number of uses for these in my upcoming projects. The only thing I wish they had (not sure how feasible it is) is if they had a way to lower the pole a little bit with just one hand. That would make repositioning them possible while holding up whatever (in my case, drywall) with my other hand.I will say that getting the circular pads onto the ends of the poles was a bear! They are press-fit and it was a bit of a struggle; I ended up having to resort to a mallet to get a couple of them on, but I guess that means they're not at risk of coming off.

I use this type of tool for hanging cabinets, drywall on ceilings, and all sorts of projects when working on my own. I have others from other brands, and like to have 3 pair on hand all the times. This brand is very sturdy and easy to use. Lifting with a squeeze is easy to control. It lifts about a half inch per squeeze. Of course you can extend the main pipe much more rapidly by loosening the locking wheel and sliding it to whatever length you want to start with. Lowering can be abrupt (like all the other brands). You release the lifter with a slanted metal tab and it drops quickly until you release the tab, then it locks again. With practice, you can release it a few inches at a time. Heavier loads drop quicker. I particularly like the feet on this brand. They are large and very sturdy. The whole column will flex under a heavy load and that is normal; all brands do that.
