As advertised this is not a soft surface. But it is smooth and good for layering on other mats in the gym, grass, or a variety of floors while traveling. I used it during a Christmas visit on a wood floor and liked having the mat surface. I may need to play with folding it again to get back into zipper pouch.

Stunningly beautiful. Soft to the touch. Good quality. I easily tossed it in the washer and it came out fine. I love the size and ease to fold it and carry it around (vs a rolled up yoga mat). I can just put it in my carry bag and bring it to work and then to yoga class. Looking forward to taking it on trips with me to put on the floor in hotels to do yoga. Grateful

This worked great for travel - very thin, folds well (like a towel - not a roll!), but the folds do not impede use once you open it up. Also has it's own carry-bag. If you really want to lighten your load, you could probably cut a foot off the end of the mat and still have plenty to work with.For exercises like situps, pushups and the like, I used the proper side of the mat. However, I found it a bit slick for doing yoga. No problem! I flipped it over and stood on the side that is supposed to grip the floor to do my yoga. This provided the needed grip for my feet and worked fantastic! I used the mat on top of a rug and never felt it was going to slip.

This yoga mat is perfect for travel! I absolutely love its design, and it didn’t take up too much space or add significant weight to my suitcase. I brought it on a trip to New York, and the beautiful design drew me in and encouraged me to roll it out and keep up with my yoga practice. While I prefer a thicker mat for home, this one is ideal for travel. I highly recommend it ~ just looking at it brings on the zen!

This mat is very thin so you may want to get a knee pad to go with it. It is however durable and folds up neatly and the carry case comes in handy.

I was looking for a travel mat so I could practice while on vacation. I did find a few I liked, but they looked bland..that, and the size looked like it would take up too much space in my luggage. I wanted something portable and that looked like me.Then I found this mat and my goodness! It's so beautiful!! I love the colors and it feels so soft! It's thin, but that's the point of it being portable. It even comes in a beautiful bag to keep it safe. And yes it is slip proof! I had to test it out before writing this because I've returned so many mats that claimed they were anti-slip.Alil pricey, but worth every penny. It actually makes me excited to practice :)
