Lightweight, easy grinding, nice even grind too. Makes great coffee. Taste more of the bean and less bitter than an electric grinder.

It's compact, easy to use. The reservoir is small so it doesn't hold a lot of the grinds but it screws shut so they stay fresh if you don't want to empty and brush it off each time. This appliance creates a nice fine grind. Would definitely recommend and purchase again but I think it will last a long time!

This is a great manual coffee grinder that produces a very consistent and fine grind. You can precisely adjust your grind with a washer/nut/bolt thingy on top. The wood finish looks nice and hasn't cracked like some other, cheaper grinders and the cast iron conical burr is much more durable than ceramic. I really only have two criticisms: 1) Like others have said, grinding takes a while and takes effort. I use this for espresso and it takes around 5 minutes where I really have to work for it. 2.) Switching between grind settings can be a pain. There isn't a way to easily switch from a specific fine grind setting to a coarse one (you basically have to count notch positions on a washer...hard to explain without the visual). All in all, this is a quality addition to my coffee setup that doesn't break the bank and helps me produce consistently good coffee.

I am the only one who drinks coffee in this house, and I like my Aeropress to make cold coffee to sip. I looked at a lot of small hand grinders including Snow Peak and MSR for campers and some of the fancier ones for in-house use, but they each had negative reviews for some part breaking, either chipping ceramic or cracked plastic washers & arms. I saw this one which had no reviews yet, but I liked that the mechanism is all cast iron. There's no breaking this thing! Even if the wood outside somehow breaks, I can make a new housing and transfer the grinder over. The grind was very consistent, and out of the box with no adjustments it came out very fine, not quite espresso but finer than cone filter size. It made an excellent cup in the Aeropress. I did adjust the grind one notch on the wheel to be a little more coarse. I'll just have to find what is right. But it was super easy to pour the beans in, burn off some calories grinding, and have enough for a stiff brew to wake me up.Since there are no reviews, I took several photos to help document the product for future shoppers. Highly recommended!

This coffee grinder is about the diameter of a can of mackerel. It is made in a cylindrical shape that has been hollowed and adjusted to screw together in the middle. The bottom half is for holding coffee grinds that come through the mechanism. I was able to adjust it easily to a course grind for the French press. It can grind very fine. I believe it can also grind pepper and other spices. This is attractive to display and easy to use. The unit I received is beautifully finished and the wood is better done than I have observed in a commercial product in a while. The handle has a round wooden knob where the user holds to grind the contents. It works easily. There are three barely their circular pads on the bottom of this grinder so that someone could grind it while it sat on the counter. I don't do it that way. I hold it and grind it because it works better for me. This is really an excellent piece.

This thing is Amazing with a capital "A"!I like my coffee plain (no cream or sugar). I was previously using an electric coffee grinder and I grind fresh whole beans into a french press (Frieling - stainless steel, which I recommend), soak hot water and beans for 4 min and enjoy. I would lightly use the electric coffee grinder (not overgrind) to not 'burn' or scald the bean and quite enjoyed this method and the resulting coffee. That said, using this manual grinder in place of electric has opened up a MUCH MORE smooth and chocolate-y flavor (using the same beans and french press). It is amazing! The grinder 'movement' or core parts are high quality cast iron. You can feel the quality in it. It is a little top heavy as the core of the 'movement' is in the upper half with an empty bottom wood chamber. However, the entire grinder is not too large where that it is not going to fall over unless you really bump it. You probably don't want to drop this thing because the weight of the cast iron + a hard fall, probably won't be good for the wood shell.I quite like the wood chamber as it has a natural feel and quality to it. It gives it an earthy vibe and it feels like a living energy that you want to care for (not sterile). Not something you want to carelessly bang around like a glass based grinder. It's probably not something you want to wash with soap as that may prematurely dry out the wood as well. (May consider every now and then to lightly coat with some mineral oil, like used on a wood cutting board, to keep the wood healthy and to not crack or dry out). Rinsing would be okay, but coffee beans have a nice oil in them and I plan to let the natural coffee grinds settle into the wood. Seems to add to the earthy vibe.Overall, adding this has been amazing and I enjoy the manual grind and process of making my coffee with this quality grinder. Provided you take care of the wood outer shell, this cast iron grinder should produce quality coffee grinds for ages. Would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys their coffee.
